Day One

Travel North visiting East Coast beaches, the Brynderwyn Range, with spectacular vistas over the Hauraki Gulf, and Whangarei. Arriving in Paihia, you will join a cruise which takes you through the Bay of Islands to the impressive 'Hole in the Rock' at Cape Brett, with the possibility of some whale or dolphin watching.

Day Two

  • Sand surfing
  • Mangonui Fish Shop

Depart Paihia with experienced operators licensed to drive 90 Mile Beach and head north to the very top of New Zealand, Cape Reinga, sacred to Maori and the point where the Tasman Sea meets the Pacific Ocean. Your day includes sand surfing, visits to museums,  the spectacular drive along 90 Mile Beach and up Te Paki Stream.

Day Three

  • Waitangi Treaty House
  • Hokianga Harbour
  • Tane Mahuta (giant native tree)
  • Matakohe (museum)

Return to Auckland via the rugged West Coast.  First stop is the Waitangi Treaty House. This is the site of the signing of the treaty back in 1840. Travel past the golden sands of the Hokianga to experience the magnificent Tane Mahuta (God of the Forest) at 2,000 years old, our oldest Kauri tree. Travel through the giant Kauri groves of the Trounson State Forest to Dargaville, past the upper reaches of the Kaipara Harbour (New Zealand's largest) to the Matakohe Museum.
